Mariachi Los Paisanos

There are few cultural cornerstones that are as synonymous with San Antonio as mariachi. UTSA's ensemble, Mariachi Los Paisanos, is frequently called to perform in a wide variety of programs throughout the city. Mariachi is evaluated on both its musical presentation and its visual presentation, so the full uniform, or traje, is an important part of representing our program. As the ensemble continues to grow and develop into an acknowledged player among university mariachi programs, the need for the group to have complete uniforms is critical.

Our ultimate goal is to raise $20,000 to provide a full traje for all members of Mariachi Los Paisanos and properly represent UTSA across San Antonio and the state of Texas. In order to do so, we need your help!

All gifts made will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to an anonymous matching donor. That means your gift of any amount up to $3,000 will be doubled at no extra cost to you!

Your support not only provides new uniforms for this culturally enriching program, but it helps bring more talented artists to UTSA. All major school districts in San Antonio are presenting mariachi ensembles at both the middle and high school level, and our mariachi program can help them continue their education at our university. The ensemble draws its members from across the entire university and allows another artistic outlet for students who could not otherwise commit to a musical ensemble. In addition, it provides music education students with an up close and personal mariachi experience that they may need for their future career.
