Huddle Against Hunger: UTSA vs. TXST Challenge

Get ready for a spirited competition as UTSA takes on Texas State University in the Huddle Against Hunger challenge! This isn’t just a rivalry; it’s a chance to make a real difference for our Roadrunners and show our community spirit by supporting those in need.

From now until game day, Roadrunners and their supporters will be rallying to raise funds for UTSA’s food pantry. This critical resource provides essential support to UTSA students facing food insecurity, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals while pursuing their academic goals.

How You Can Help:

  1. Donate: Your contribution will directly support the UTSA food pantry, providing meals, groceries, and essential supplies to students in need. Whether it’s $10, $69 or $500, your contribution brings us closer to victory.

  2. Spread the Word: Email your friends and family, share the campaign link on social media, and encourage others to get involved.

Why It Matters:

Food insecurity can significantly impact students' academic performance and overall well-being. By supporting the Huddle Against Hunger challenge, you are directly contributing to the UTSA food pantry, helping to ensure that every Roadrunner has the nourishment they need to excel in their studies and thrive on campus.

Will UTSA Come Out on Top?

It’s up to you! Show your Roadrunner pride and help UTSA win this friendly competition. But beyond the rivalry, we all win when we come together to combat hunger and support our community.

Donations are applied to...

Donations will directly benefit the food pantry at UTSA. These funds will be used to:

  1. Stock Pantry Shelves: Purchase non-perishable food items, fresh produce, and other essential groceries to ensure a steady supply for students in need.

  2. Provide Hygiene Products: Supply personal care items such as toiletries, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies, which are often requested by pantry users.

  3. Support Student Wellbeing: The pantry focuses on nutrition and healthy eating habits to help students make the most of the resources available to them.

By contributing to the Huddle Against Hunger challenge, you are ensuring that students at  UTSA have the resources they need to thrive academically and personally. Your generosity directly impacts their well-being and helps create a supportive community where every student can succeed.

Why are donations necessary?

Food insecurity – the lack of access to affordable, nutritious food – is common at universities across the country, potentially limiting the educational success of thousands of students.  In a study of 1,800 college students, 48 percent of respondents reported food insecurity in the previous 30 days. Of those in the study who are first-generation college students, 56 percent reported they were food insecure.

September is Hunger Action Month. Working together, we’ll raise funds at each school to fill our pantry shelves as the new academic year starts. Winning school will receive a grant for their pantry.
