What kinds of projects can be submitted?
The mission of UTSA Crowdfunding is to help students and faculty raise money for academic conferences or competitions, service-learning opportunities, trips to study abroad, and other projects they are passionate about.
UTSA Crowdfunding projects will advance innovation, teaching and learning at the university – including those focused on student groups, student experience, athletics, library or faculty-specific initiatives. You can submit a project application at giving.utsa.edu/utsacrowdfunding at any time.
What is an appropriate funding goal for projects?
Typically project goals range from a few hundred dollars up to $10,000. Successful projects involve a team of active faculty or students who are willing to email their circles of influence to ask for support as well as share their project on social media.
We will consider each project's goal on a case-by-case basis.
Who decides that a project will be added to UTSA Crowdfunding?
A crowdfunding and special projects committee, comprised of UTSA Annual Giving staff, will review UTSA Crowdfunding applications and approve them based on project essentials: team commitment, project appeal and goal achievement potential.
How do groups access the funds they raise?
Teams receive all funds raised, even if the project goal isn't achieved. Funds will only be deposited in UTSA gift accounts. UTSA Crowdfunding staff will work with project team leaders and department administrators to, where appropriate, establish appropriate accounts and to make sure a proper university disbursement authority is in place.
