UTSA Indoor Percussion Competing in Dayton

UTSA Indoor is a competitive ensemble that meets during the spring semester. We are a part of the music department and under the large umbrella of the Spirit of San Antonio (SOSA) Marching Band. The ensemble is made up of roughly 40 UTSA students that are percussionist and visual cast members. The ensemble is directed by Randi Miles and Benjamin Pyles. UTSA Indoor, originally known as Rhythm of San Antonio, or ROSA, was formed in 2012, directed by Jonathan Tirado. The name was changed to UTSA Indoor in 2016. This was to facilitate the combining of our separate color guard and percussion programs into one competitive ensemble. The group competes in a local Texas circuit called Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) and the international circuit Winter Guard International (WGI).

Our goal is to raise money to help support our competitive season both locally and nationally. This includes an end of the season trip to Dayton, Ohio where the Winterguard International Percussion Championships are held. Championships are April 11-13th, 2019. 2019 will mark the first time UTSA Indoor travels to the world championships. Will you make a gift today to help us make UTSA history?

Being able to attend the WGI Percussion Championships in Dayton, Ohio will allow the performers of the ensemble to compete at the highest possible level in the field. The best groups across the nation and internationally find their way there every year to share, explore and compete in the music arts. UTSA has never attended before. The trip will not only allow our students to experience intense competition, but it will also bring exposure to our university. Future Roadrunners will be able to see what our percussion program, music department and university has to offer. UTSA Indoor will represent the university and the great state of Texas in the most professional and spirited way!

Donating to this fund will provide the ensemble with travel (buses, equipment trucks, gas, drivers), lodging (4 nights of hotels), food (meals for all performers) and so much more for the regular competitive season and, most importantly, the WGI Percussion Championships trip.

UTSA Indoor would greatly appreciate it if you would help us spread the word! Please share our crowdfunding campaign with your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors. Any help can go a long way. You can share our crowdfunding link through email, social media, shout it out on the street…anything helps!

Thank you so much for your support and your interest in our project. With your help, UTSA Indoor will be well on our way to making UTSA history! The ensemble performers, directors and staff truly thank you for helping us reach new heights and new goals with the UTSA Indoor ensemble.
