The Project
We are raising money in order to compete in an international competition, called Formula SAE, which takes place in Lincoln, Nebraska. This competition tests teams from around the world in their ability to build a race car from the ground up and simulate all the workings of a small automotive company. Our goal is to finish among the top ten teams. In addition to the expenses of the vehicle design and manufacturing costs, UTSA SAE must come up with the funds to participate in the actual competition, including registration fees and travel expenses. Any additional funds raised will be used towards next year's competition costs.
Who We Are
We are Roadrunner Racing, the Society of Automotive Engineers student chapter at UTSA. Our chapter prides itself on resourcefulness we achieve on a budget. In the 2015 competition, we placed 17th overall out of 80 teams as well as 2nd in the "Bang For Your Buck" category. With that track record, you can be sure your gift will be used to its fullest extent to ensure success.
The Impact
The project will bring further recognition of the programs provided at UTSA, as well as attract companies from around the world to look to UTSA for new talent. Formula SAE uniquely takes students out of the classroom and allows them to apply textbook theories to real world scenarios, such as developing a product, as well as marketing it. When our members graduate, the community gains a workforce that has a unique set of skills and work ethic. The experiences gained from designing, building, and competing give us a head start when pursuing our careers.
What Your Gifts Will Do
Here at Roadrunner Racing we strive to improve every year. Your gifts will encourage our pursuit for success and boost our morale in achieving our goals by directly funding our competition costs. UTSA SAE views all of our sponsors as partners as we strive for greatness. Your support plays a crucial role in allowing our team to perform at the best of our ability. With your help, we will be able to travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, and put our work to the test in the 2016 SAE International Formula IC competition.
