Who we are
The Top Scholar Student Organization (TSSO) is the student-led division of the Top Scholar Program, a comprehensive 4-year scholarship program unique to UTSA. Graduating seniors, as cohorts of 10 scholars, are tasked with creating a sustainable legacy project that demonstrates our commitment to the three pillars of our program: knowledge, leadership and service.
The Project
We, the class of 2020, will install a piece of solar furniture on campus - check out our pictures for example! This solar furniture will provide an outdoor charging space for anyone visiting our campus. We aim to have it placed strategically to encourage visitors to enjoy our beautiful green spaces.
The Impact
Our project will impact UTSA and its students in several ways. The first and most obvious is by providing a comfortable place to sit outside. Whether taking a rest out of the sun or enjoying the weather, this bench will encourage students to get some fresh air. The second benefit of this bench is its ability to charge devices. In today’s world, almost everything is electronic and we all know how nerve-wracking it is when your battery is dying. Our bench can eliminate this stressful situation so that students can get back to work while their devices are being powered with clean, renewable power that they can feel good about!
What Your Gifts Will Do
Your gifts will help us purchase the furniture, pay for any related installation costs, and provide signage attached to the furniture about its significance.
