Who We Are
The Bilingual Education Student Organization (BESO) was founded in 1979 with the purpose of providing information, assistance and fellowship for students interested in Bicultural and Bilingual Studies. Our first founders and members Dr. Belinda Flores and Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark serve as role models for what BESO is accomplishing—professional growth and finding a home within the UTSA community.
Our Project
As future educators, conferences allow us to stay aware of current issues in bilingual education, learn new classroom strategies, and help build connections with professionals and future mentors. The Texas Association for Bilingual Education conference (TABE) offers BESO these opportunities. In the past year, our organization has grown to more than 40 members, and we want to give as many as we can the opportunity to attend TABE in Galveston, Texas this year. Cost, however, is the number one obstacle keeping our members from participating in these professional events.
BESO needs your help to attend the TABE conference and represent UTSA as the future leaders of Texan communities. The funds raised by your tax-deductible donation will cover the cost of transportation, lodging and conference fees. Our goal is to raise $3,000 and cover half of the cost for BESO members attending the conference.
Your donation is an investment in the future educators and children of Texas.
