Students attend Black Student Athlete Summit
Every year, universities across the country host academic conferences that offer students opportunities to participate in and present scholarly research. Participation in these events provides an enriching experience by exposing students to research from leading professionals in various fields. Our goal is to provide two students (1 graduate and 1 undergraduate) in pursuit of doctoral education the opportunity to participate and attend The Black Student Athlete Summit at The University of Texas at Austin. We need to raise $1,200 to cover expenses associated with travel, lodging and registration fees.
Who We Are
This project is part of a larger endeavor by Langston Clark, PhD, an Assistant Professor in Kinesiology Health and Nutrition to identify and mentor students with the potential to pursue higher education degrees in Kinesiology or related fields. Both Amber Calvin and Christian N. Taylor have demonstrated a level beyond potential regarding their ability to pursue and complete doctoral education. Over the past 12 months, they have been engaged in scholarly work equivalent to that of first year PhD students. Participation in the Black Student Athlete Conference will further develop their research, public speaking and networking skills. All of which are necessary for students that aspire to achieve doctoral education.
