The Project
Our project is to send student members of ALPFA to the national convention in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, this summer. Student members of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) UTSA, are prepared for professional positions in finance, accounting, and related fields by developing their leadership skills and professional deportment. This is accomplished through industry tours, technical workshops, networking events, community service, and leadership opportunities. Throughout the year, we are consistently working toward professional development so our student members will be prepared and successful at the ALPFA National Convention.
At the ALPFA National Convention, students interact with professionals at all levels, as well as recruiters, allowing them to put their networking and leadership skills to work and display their self-confidence. There are a variety of technical workshops, networking luncheons, and social gatherings that the students participate in, and the convention ends with an enormous career fair on the last day. The ALPFA National Convention is truly an amazing experience for our student members, and each year we witness more and more success stories.
The Impact on UTSA and the Community
ALPFA UTSA is open to all students in the College of Business at UTSA, and we encourage all students to join our organization so they are able to benefit from what we offer. Our professional network continues to grow through all of the activities in which we are involved. We bring these connections back to UTSA and share with all students the opportunities that are available to us. ALPFA UTSA also provides accounting boot camps in preparation for exams in intermediate accounting courses.
When you invest in ALPFA, you ensure we have opportunities to develop our leadership skills. We believe in giving back to UTSA and assisting other students to become successful. In addition, ALPFA UTSA represents the university everywhere we go. We pride ourselves in presenting ourselves professionally and positively contributing to UTSA’s reputation.
Who We Are The greater mission of ALPFA is outreach to and inclusion of talented students from Latino populations. This doesn’t mean that only Latino students are allowed to join ALPFA, but it does mean that we strive to find, mentor, and encourage Latino students who do not have the self-confidence or professional skills to purse their career goals. Many of our members are first generation college students and require our help to overcome obstacles and learn about the countless opportunities available to them. ALPFA strongly supports diversity, and we believe that diverse teams and cultural differences bring varying viewpoints and better ideas into the workplace.

Gifts at this level will cover registration for two students for the ALPFA National Convention. You will be listed as a contributor on ALPFA UTSA’s website and have the opportunity to personally mentor one of our students.
Gifts at this level will cover one hotel room for four students for five nights of the ALPFA National Convention. You will be listed as a contributor on ALPFA UTSA’s website and have the opportunity to speak to our organization or present a technical topic.
Covers registration for four students or one student and a hotel room for the entire conference. Those who make gifts at this level will be listed as a contributors on our website and receive public recognition at an ALPFA UTSA event during the 2014-2015 school year.
