Who We Are
We are architecture students in the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning at The University of Texas at San Antonio. In our Building Design Studio class, we have formed four groups and partnered with Green Spaces Alliance to design and develop Harvest Stations within four community gardens in San Antonio; the Gardens of St. Therese, Beacon Hill Community Garden, River Road Community Garden, and Jardin de la Esperanza.
Our Project
Our job is to design and build four Harvest Stations to cover the sinks that Green Spaces Alliance is providing, creating a space to wash and weigh the produce. The Harvest Station will become a place for demonstration and education, as well as a space for the community to gather. The money we raise will help us buy the materials and equipment we need to build the Harvest Stations, and make our designs a reality.
The Impact
These gardens are located in economically challenged, low income areas. Not only do the gardens enrich these individual communities, but much of the produce is donated to the San Antonio Food Bank, helping many families that do not have enough resources to buy food. All proceeds to this project will help the community come closer together, and educate people while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Your donations will help further develop the community gardens which will become an example for others.
Share to Build a Better Community
To make our goals a reality, we need your help in a very short amount of time that we have. Please share our Harvest Station Project via social media, family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and anybody who you think will help surpass our goals.
Thanks for Donating
Our Building Design Studio class thanks you for your contributions. Your donations are greatly appreciated by the community and our class that you have helped. Thank you.
