ALPFA National Conference 2015
Our goal is to send as many ALPFA student members as possible to the national convention in New York City this summer. The number one aim of our organization is to ensure students are prepared for professional positions in finance, accounting, and related fields, by developing their leadership skills and professional deportment, and attending convention is perhaps one of the best ways our members achieve that goal.
During the convention students participate in industry tours, technical workshops, networking events, community service, and leadership opportunities. Students also have opportunities to interact with recruiters and professionals, and attend a large career fair during the convention. The ALPFA National Convention is truly an amazing experience for our student members, and each year we witness more and more success stories from attendees!
Last year, thanks to generous supporters to our first-ever crowdfunding campaign, we were able to send 18 students to the ALPFA National Convention! They gained experience and cultivated various skills that have already helped them succeed in pursuing their careers.
This year, we need your help to send new members who have not yet had the opportunity to attend convention—they will be the new generation to continue our tradition of success.
More about Who We Are
The greater mission of ALPFA is outreach to and inclusion of talented students from Latino populations in business career fields. This doesn’t mean that only Latino students are allowed to join ALPFA, but it does mean that we strive to find, mentor, and encourage Latino students who have not yet established the self-confidence or professional skills to purse their career goals.
Many of our members are first generation college students and require assistance to overcome obstacles and learn about the countless opportunities available. ALPFA strongly supports diversity, and we believe that diverse teams and cultural differences bring varying viewpoints and better ideas into the workplace.
The Impact on UTSA and the Community
Students who attend ALPFA National Convention bring lessons learned back to fellow students to even further the impact. We believe in giving back to our school and assisting other students in their path to success. In addition, ALPFA at UTSA strives to represent the university well everywhere we go. We pride ourselves in presenting ourselves professionally and positively contributing to UTSA’s reputation.
What Your Gifts Will Do
Your gifts will allow new student members to attend the convention in New York this summer. Your gift ensures that our students are able to afford to register for the convention, stay onsite, and get the full experience of the convention.
Your gifts will have a lasting impact because our members will gain new skills and knowledge, as well as internship and job opportunities, which will move them closer to reaching their career goals.
