Who We Are
We are a first year engineering organization whose goal is to design, manufacture, test and then compete in an all-electric race car at an international competition next June in Lincoln, Nebraska. We are mainly electrical and mechanical engineering students but we are open to all students at UTSA and have several non-engineering students. We have a diverse group of freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors working toward our project. All of our members are passionate about our electric race car and are excited about the transition to electric vehicles in the automotive industry.
Since we are the first organization at UTSA that exists solely to compete with an electric car, we have high startup costs such as motors and safety equipment.
What Your Gifts Will Do
Velox Racing has been hard at work for 6 months fundraising and gathering equipment and supplies to be successful, but we still need your help. Your gift will help this team hit the ground running this year and begin an electric FSAE team legacy at UTSA. Support will help us offset the costs of our motors and safety equipment. These are purchases that will sustain our organization for the next several years and help us compete at the same level as well-established university teams.
The Impact
Our organization has already provided an outlet for students at UTSA and the community to learn about electric vehicles and how they affect us. With your support, we can create a more lasting impact. As students, this project provides the invaluable cross-disciplinary experience that is not available anywhere else at UTSA. This project has systems that heavily combine electrical and mechanical systems, so our student engineers must learn how to communicate, work and understand one another in a large team. With more than 50 active members, our organization is like a small engineering firm. It’s a truly unique experience!
