Bilingual Teachers Attend National Conference

Who We Are

The Bilingual Education Student Organization BESO was founded in 1979 with the purpose of providing information, assistance, and fellowship for students interested in Bicultural and Bilingual Studies. Our founders and members Dr. Belinda Flores and Dr. Ellen Riojas Clark served as roles models for what BESO is accomplishing-professional growth and finding a home within the UTSA community. Our goal within the BESO is to provide the support, resources, and professional development for our future teacher within the bilingual education field.

Project Description

As future educators, the conference allows us to stay aware of the current issues in bilingual education, learn new classroom strategies and network with professionals and prospective mentors who open up a world of opportunities for our pre-service teacher. The National Association for Bilingual Education Conference (NABE) offers BESO this opportunity. NABE will take place in Lake Buena Vista Florida this year. Cost, however, is the number one obstacle keeping out members from participating in this event.

BESO needs your help to attend the NABE conference and represent UTSA as the future leaders of Texan communities. Your tax-deductible donation will cover the cost of transportation, lodging and conference fees. Our goal is to raise $3,500 and cover some of the cost for BESO members attending the conference.
