Hello! On August 26, 2023, the UTSA Alumni Association posthumously awarded Barry McKinney with the 2024 Distinguished Service Award. Part of the presentation included a video, which is shared here, with interviews highlighting former student leaders who worked with Barry to make some of UTSA's most treasured traditions possible. Jan, Mark and Scott received the award on Barry's behalf.

Thank you for helping continue Barry's legacy at UTSA through your support of the Birds Up for Barry Endowment.  While his work stands on its own as a legacy, the endowment is also an opportunity to ensure Barry's generosity of spirit continues to impact students at UTSA.

Thanks to anonymous donors, when 60 donors make gifts to either Wellbeing and Mental Health Initiatives, Multicultural Events, or Service Opportunities and Alternative Breaks, $10,000 will unlock for the Birds Up for Barry fund, which supports Student Affairs programs, events and traditions at UTSA.

Thank you for supporting Birds Up for Barry.  At the end of this month, a portion of the funds raised will be forwarded to the investment management company to create a permanent endowed fund in memory of Barry. This means that Barry's legacy will continue at UTSA in perpetuity, by helping fund the programs and traditions that he worked with students to establish and grow.

Any additional funds received can be added to the endowment to increase the impact.
